Recently, Makassar – PT Huadi Bantaeng Industry Park (Huadi Group) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with an Australian company, Climate Tech Cement Pty Ltd (CTC) which is a group of Suvo Strategic Minerals, regarding the use of slag in the Huadi Group industrial area in Bantaeng Regency, South Sulawesi.

This collaboration focuses on processing slag into geopolymer cement and precast materials, which is considered a technological breakthrough in industrial waste management.

The Acting Regent of Bantaeng, Andi Abubakar, welcomed this agreement positively and considered this collaboration as a source of pride for Bantaeng Regency, especially in supporting foreign investment that brings positive environmental impacts.

"Using slag waste into concrete material not only supports technological innovation, but is also in line with environmentally friendly efforts in South Sulawesi," said Andi Abubakar.

Muhammad Arafah, Daily Acting Head of the South Sulawesi Province One Stop Integrated Service (PTSP), emphasized the importance of real implementation of this MoU. He hopes that the development report from the Regent of Bantaeng can show the positive impact of this collaboration in the future.

Director of PT Huadi Bantaeng Industry Park, Lily Dewi Candinegara, also expressed her gratitude for the local government's support in this project, calling this collaboration an important step to process industrial waste into useful and environmentally friendly products.

Aaron Banks, a representative from CTC, stated that the use of slag into geopolymer cement will reduce carbon emissions, in line with the global trend towards environmental sustainability. He also said that CTC is ready to invest further in developing slag processing technology in the Huadi Group area.

Professor of Physics at Makassar State University (UNM), Prof. Subaer, added that slag can be used for various fire-resistant building products such as bricks, polymer cement and other household products.

On the same occasion, Professor of Physics at Makassar State University (UNM), Prof. Subaer, said that slag waste can be used to make various innovative building products, such as precast products, polymer cement, paving bricks, fire-resistant bricks, and durable household products. According to him, this technology not only improves building quality, but also provides environmentally friendly solutions.

Aaron Banks, representative from Climate Tech Cement Pty Ltd (CTC), added that the use of slag as a base material for polymer cement will contribute significantly to reducing carbon emissions. CTC itself is committed to investing in a slag management project in the Huadi Group area, Bantaeng Regency.
